In accordance with Section 10-15-1, NMSA 1978 (2010 Cumulative Supplement), notice is hereby given that the City of Elephant Butte, New Mexico, County of Sierra will hold the following meetings:

 

July 1, 2015, Wednesday at 2:00 pm –  REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING -In Council Chambers, 103 Water Street, Elephant Butte, NM  87935.  Workshop to precede meeting at 1:00 p.m.

July 7, 2015, Tuesday at 9:00 am  – REGULAR PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION  MEETING – In Council Chambers, 103 Water Street, Elephant Butte, NM  87935.  Workshop to follow meeting.

July 9, 2015, Thursday  at 9:00 am  – LODGERS TAX ADVISORY BOARD MEETING – In Council Chambers, 103 Water Street, Elephant Butte, NM  87935.

NOTICE OF ADOPTION – ORDINANCE #152

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT ORDINANCE NO. 152 WAS ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELEPHANT BUTTE, NEW MEXICO DURING ITS DULY ADVERTISED PUBLIC MEETING ON JUNE 3, 2015.

Ordinance No. 152 is referenced as “Amending the City Code regarding the C-2 Commercial Zoning District. Specifically, City Code Sections 155.005 “[Zoning] Definitions” and 155.033 “Establishment of Official Commercial Zoning District Map, Zoning Districts and Boundaries” are hereby amended with revisions to lot coverage and setbacks, landscaping plans, site plan requirements, and permitted and conditional uses allowed.

This ordinance can be reviewed in its entirety at City Hall, at 103 Water Street, from 8:00 – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday or online at www.CityofElephantButte.com.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR CONSIDERATION OF ORDINANCE #154

Notice is hereby given that the City Council will hold a public hearing on

Wednesday June 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at City Hall, 103 Water Street. The purpose of the hearing shall be to consider adoption of Ordinance #154: Amending the City Code to allow the limited keeping of female chickens. Specifically, City Code Sections 91 and 155 would be amended to allow up to 5 hens on lots of at least 10,000 square feet within the R-1-A, R-1-B, R-1-C and C-2 zoning districts upon issuance of a City permit.

Copies of the proposed ordinance are available for public inspection at City Hall during normal business hours Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Please contact the City at 744-4892 x103 with questions regarding the ordinances or at least 48 hours in advance of the public hearing should you require special accommodations.

NOTICE OF MEETING AND INTENT TO ADOPT ORDINANCE 153

 

Notice is hereby given of the title and of a general summary of the subject matter contained in an ordinance to be considered for adoption by the City Council of the City of Elephant Butte, New Mexico at a regular meeting to be held at 103 Water Avenue, Elephant Butte, New Mexico on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. The title of the Ordinance is:

 

AN ORDINANCE REPEALING CITY ORDINANCE NO. 150; RATIFYING ACTIONS HERETOFORE TAKEN; REPEALING ALL ACTION INCONSISTENT WITH THIS ORDINANCE; AND AUTHORIZING THE TAKING OF OTHER ACTIONS IN CONNECTION WITH THE REPEAL OF CITY ORDINANCE NO. 150.

 

The title sets forth a general summary of the subject matter contained in the ordinance.

 

Complete copies of the ordinance are on file in the Office of the City Clerk and are available for inspection and/or purchase during regular office hours.  This Notice constitutes compliance with Section 3-17-3, NMSA 1978.

Dog Rescue update

Thank you to everyone for helping to get the word out: According to a conversation just now with the Sierra Animal Shelter, the City of Socorro has transferred 26 dogs to their rescue, and 8 more have either been adopted, or are in the process of adopting. The remainder of the dogs are being held for evaluation pending adoption.
