NEWLY ELECTED OFFICIALS SWEARING-IN CEREMONY, TUESDAY, DECEMBER 28, 9:00 AM, 103 WATER STREET, POSSIBLE QUORUM

Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, December 28, at 9:00 am at 103 Water Street, Elephant Butte, NM, the City of Elephant Butte will conduct a swearing-in ceremony for:

  • Phillip Mortensen – Mayor-Elect
  • Cathy Harmon – Councilor-Elect
  • Kim Skinner – Councilor-Elect
  • Edna Trager – Councilor-Elect

There is a possibility of a quorum at this meeting. No City business will be discussed or acted upon.

If you are an individual with a disability who needs a reader, amplifier, qualified sign language interpreter or any other form of auxiliary aid or service to attend the ceremony, please contact the City Clerk at 575-744-4892 at least one week prior to the meeting or as soon as possible.

The City will also open the ceremony to the public through WebEx.

WARM SPRINGS & BUTTE BLVD ROAD CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON NOVEMBER 24

A Mountain Construction will begin work at the intersection of Warm Springs and Butte Blvd in Elephant Butte on November 24, the day before Thanksgiving.

The timing of the project is as follows: Traffic control and mobilization will occur on November 24. Demolition and milling after the Thanksgiving holiday. Paving should be done by mid-December. Striping and demobilization before Christmas.

Alternate routes will include Butte Blvd to Odessa (where the Post Office is located) then turn left onto Anton to Warm Springs (both directions). There will also be an alternate route from Butte Blvd to Country Club, then right on Water St to Warm Springs (both directions).

NOTICE OF ADOPTIONS – ORDINANCES 199 & 200

Notice is hereby given that Ordinances 199 & 200 were adopted during a duly advertised public meeting of the governing body of the City of Elephant Butte, NM, on November 17, 2021. 

Ordinance 199 is an ordinance vacating Wood Street pursuant to NMSA 1978, Section 67-2-7, following receipt of a petition for determination of vacation as the roadway is no longer needed for public purposes. 

Ordinance 200 combines the sewer and water advisory boards into the Public Utility Advisory Board.
