Notice is hereby given that the City Council will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 2:00pm, In Council Chambers at 103 Water Street, Elephant Butte, NM 87935. The purpose of the hearing shall be to consider approval and possible adoption of Ordinance 167:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ELEPHANT BUTTE, NEW MEXICO AMENDING ORDINANCE 83 AND SECTION 131.12 OF THE ELEPHANT BUTTE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CLARIFYING INCONSISTENCIES WITHIN
WHEREAS, the code of ordinances currently contains a number of inconsistencies; and
WHEREAS, the City has identified several of these inconsistencies recently and finds that amending the current regulations would benefit the citizens of Elephant Butte and alleviate confusion in current ordinance; and
WHEREAS, amendments to the Deadly Weapons code may be authorized upon review of the proposed amendments by the City Council and after the governing body has conducted a public hearing on the proposed amendments;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED By the Governing Body of the City of Elephant Butte, that Ordinance 83 and Section 131.12 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Elephant Butte be REPEALED as it is unconstitutional and unnecessarily restricts the rights of the citizens of Elephant Butte.
The proposed Ordinance can be reviewed in its entirety at City Hall, 103 Water Street, from 8am – 12pm and 1pm – 5pm, Monday through Friday.
